Hey there, we’re a 20’s something married couple with a few stories to tell.
We have experienced our fair share of ups and downs in these 20 something years that we’ve been on God’s great green Earth. We’ve lost a parent to suicide, cheated in relationships & have been cheated on, questioned our religion, and still somehow managed to find the love of our lives (or maybe not).
The MR has a BA in Environmental design in Architecture and is currently pursuing an MBA & the MRS has a BA in Psychology but we’ve found that no amount of formal education can really prepare you to handle what life throws at you. Life lessons are best learned through experiences – either yours or someone else’s.
We started this blog because we both have a passion for helping people through our experiences, but we never had a legitimate outlet for our ideas. We are very passionate about topics dealing with relationships, religion, marriage, mental health, money, etc. – and we believe that we have things to say that are worth sharing (the Huffington Post thinks so as well). If you came here looking for creative ways of looking at these topics and helpful advice, then that is exactly what you’ll find!
Our information is unsolicited because we want to share it. We tell the truth, not because we’re trying to be factual, but simply because we need to be completely honest.
This is our Unsolicited Truth.
Derelle, first I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. We were friends, I met her through your Aunt Eloise, and we were pregnant at the same time. We lost contact and I regretted that. My heart is broken to have to find out this way. I loved your mom, she was an amazing and funny woman. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.

May God continue to strengthen you and your family, I remember her beautiful smile. I remember when you were in my class. You were such a good student. I also remember having your sister in my room. Your mom did a great job rearing you two.

Derrell and Elle, Thank you for keeping your mothers memory alive and for bringing this not so talked about subject to the forefront. Not only are there stigmas associated with depression, but there is also the stigma associated with suicide. I am so grateful to have known your mom as we shared many things in common. As she entered the room, her smile made you feel always welcome and loved. I applaud you for using this tragedy to talk about it with the hopes of saving one person and I am sure your mom would applaud you as well. Thank you!!! and May God continue to bless you as always.

Very beautifully written Derrell.
You are spot on concerning the stigma associated with suicide and I applaud your efforts to advocate awareness and not suffer through “silent grief”. I believe that through your endeavors to cope with this brutal loss, you will find that this debilitating illness has touched more lives and families that you were aware. Hopefully through your efforts and those of others, more people will seek proper treatment.
You and your family will continue to be in my prayers.

Robin,
I appreciate what you said and I want to thank you for reading and commenting. Writing is one of the things that helps me cope and I want to speak out as much as I can. I hope that the things my wife and I are able to share will be able to have a positive impact. Even if we only prevent one person from experiencing what we’ve gone through, everything will be worth it. Thank you again.
